Welcome

Life is a journey and I'm here to support you along your way.

My credentials

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Lesley University. I have additional training in Anxiety Disorders as well as Eating Disorders. I am a member of the Massachusetts Mental Health Counselors Association and New England Center for Existential Psychotherapy

My approach

I have a warm, interactive style and work hard to create a safe, respectful environment. My natural style is un-assuming, empathic and non-judgmental. I strive to be present and provide an atmosphere that feels safe--allowing room for my clients to be present in themselves as they move through their process. I facilitate self-discovery and serve as guide and witness to the process.

Relationships

Relationship conflicts

O

ne of the most beautiful qualities of a healthy relationship is the daily give and take of energy occurring between two people. Unfortunately, sometimes the balance shifts and the relationship become one-sided. We learn most about ourselves within the context of relationships. While conflict is a natural part of all relationships, destructive scripts, unfair fighting and not taking responsibility for thoughts and feelings so often occur. Mutual respect is lost

Learning to create a balanced compromise rather than winging or losing an argument, while learning about how we relate to each other and ourselves is my goal in working with individuals and couples who struggle in this area.

Grief & Loss

Grief and Loss

W

hen experiencing any kind of devastating loss, whether it is the loss of a loved one, a dream, or a relationship, feelings may arise within us that are overwhelming or difficult to cope with. The emotions that accompany any kind of loss can be intense and varied. As Anna Quindlen said,  “Grief remains one of the few things that has the power to silence us. It the least explored passage because sadly it has no end.”

I work closely with my clients in assisting them in finding avenues of expression for sadness, creating the ability to differentiate among your various feelings and listening with nonjudgmental acceptance.

Depression

Anxiety and Depression

I

n addition to incorporating standard cognitive behavioral tools, I believe it's important to consider the whole person when addressing issues of anxiety and depression.

Personality traits such as perfectionism, codependency, long-term interpersonal conflicts with partners or family members, or fear of abandonment are all contributing factors to anxiety and depression. By practicing safe boundaries, healthy assertiveness and tackling unresolved feelings of inadequacy an individual can frequently manage feelings of anxiety and depression and find a unique life purpose by embracing a more spiritual outlook.

Addictions

Addictions

I

believe that people often only see what they expect to see, which can keep them in vicious circles and relentless, ineffective repetitions of addictions. The sweetest gift we can give those we love most and ourselves is our fullest, trust presence.  When an individuals struggles with addiction there is an absence—a void.  It is not until we admit we are lost that we ever have the slightest possibility of discovering a new way of being.

My goal is to motivate change by guiding you inward as you find your natural ability to heal and overcome negative and destructive patterns.

Transitions

Life transitions

T

he most important place to begin to make changes in your life is within yourself. Change often is delayed because of fear. We are often faced with extremely difficult experiences, which change us immeasurably.  When we find ourselves up against frozen barriers of thinking, unable to handle life’s challenges, we may find the kindest choice is to love our resistance and ourselves as well.

I see my role as assisting you in ways you can or have not imagined due to your current insecurities, fear and pain.  If you are ready and eager to make a life transition, I can here to assist and share with you.
